Love this Lamp

I came across this table lamp recently at a local thrift shop. I immediately recognized the fibreglass shade as being of importance. It was a trend in the 1960's.

In Canada a company was producing them and they were called Lotte Lamps. It was a family business run by the Bostlund family, originally from Copenhagen, Denmark.

What is so special is the quality of light that results from being filtered through these textured shades. Very soft and subtle, it adds a warmth & glow to a room...

I love the simplicity of the shapes and the contrast between the curvy base and the straight lines of the shade.

I can't be a 100% sure it is a Lotte. Not all were signed. Regardless, for $8.00 I am very happy with my new lamp!

That's quite a score! They have a few of these beauties in the window of InAbstracto and they are a little bit more than $8!

The shade appears to be original Lotte, but the base is not a Lotte. I took over the production of Lotte Lamps from the Bostlunds in 1996, and you can refer to the historical pages on www.lottelamps.com for more designs. Best, Victor

Thank you so much for commenting Anonymous. That makes sense to me. The shade I was quite sure of but the base I didn't recognize as 'classic' Lotte. It still works quite well together so I am happy, especially considering the price!

When I recently went home to visit 'the parents' I realized they had a 100% Lotte. They said I could have it so I will post photos on that shortly.

...and thanks Fieldguided for commenting- I love your shop!
